Motorcycle Blogs Hooking Me Up!

It’s been an exciting day for my latest video, “This Is My KLR650”

When I make a video that I feel is really good, I like to send it to a few online motorcycle magazines.  If they decide to post it, it really helps me out.  So far 2 have posted the film on their site.  One Wheel Drive had it on their site the same night I posted it, and I just recieved an email from Motorcycle Daily letting me know they have also posted it on their site.

Maybe more exciting than the blogs though was hearing back from someone at Kawasaki.  I emailed the PR firm who takes care of business for Kawasaki, and received this reply today:

Ryan,
That was OUTSTANDING!  I have forwarded it to the management at Kawasaki.
Maximum Respect,

Sean

I’m not looking to get anything out of Kawasaki for making the video, but a pat on the back would be nice.  And it is really good to know that management at such a large company will be seeing my film.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I actually hear back from them.

When I was working on the “Cloud Forest” video I started to write some narration for the film, but gave up after a while and just went with music.  But some parts of what I had written were really good, and I continued to work on it.  Today I got the last little bit of inspiration I needed to finish the writing part, but I didn’t really have time to go out and film all new stuff.  I started looking through the archives of all the footage I have from my recent trips around Panama and thought I might be able to make it work.  I thought I would do some editing, get as far as I could then go out and fill in the blanks with new footage.  But I actually was able to find enough good footage along with some photographs from Wiki Commons to be able to illustrate the story I wrote.

So you may recognize almost all the video footage in this film from other projects of mine.  I hope that isn’t considered lame, because it’s great stuff.  And sync’ed up with my couch fort narration, and an amazing soundtrack I think it’s a pretty damn good film.

It’s about loving and making the most out of the bike you have.  Even if it is a busted up KLR650.

Above the mountain village of Boquete, Panama there are some amazing twisty, steep roads. I was very lucky to not be drenched in rain while I was trying to film. I got some great footage of the clouds, roads and forest. I stopped for a while and stood in silence surrounded by a cloud and listened to the silence, mixed with birds chirping. It really is a magical place.

The music for this video was created by Scott Altham. You can hear more of his great tunes on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/althammusic and on http://www.ccmixter.org: http://ccmixter.org/people/scottaltham/uploads

I know that vBlogs aren’t really that exciting, but sometime I have stuff to say. On the rare occasion when I do make a vBlog I’m going to let you know in the title, so you can easily skip it if you want to. Maybe your a guy who only watches HalfThrottle for the action packed goodness, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Today I was getting ready for my trip to Panama City with the Piratas de Panama, a local motorcycle club.  We are heading down for a huge 3 day motorcycle gathering, I’m sure it’s going to be crazy and I look forward to capturing as much of it as I can.

Today I was packing up some stuff and making some repairs to my helmet cam. I’m excited for the trip, but my pet turtles were not impressed.

Probably the freaking most epicest music video on the interwebz.  Follow along with the English translation below.

Japanese machine of 500cc,
Driven by Balkan man,
real macho man. (x2 both lines)

Chorus:
Kawasaki, kawasaki,
when speeding on the road,
Every girl wants to drive it
at least for a minut x2

All women love it,
But girls love it more,
Because with it,
It’s easier to breathe x2

Chorus x2

Every girl loves a lot
To ride it for a longer time
Because it’s driving
Suits every girl. (x2 boh lines)

Chorus x2

Kawasaki, Kawasaki
it can not be done by any guy,
Kawasaki, it’s realy something,
When master Bora (Bora is singer btw)
is driving it

Kawasaki, Kawasaki, it can not be done by any guy,
Kawasaki, it’s really something, When master Bora is driving it.

Kawasaki, Kawasaki, it can not be done by any guy,
Kawasaki, it’s really something, When he is driving it at least for a minute.
