In 2005 I spent four months living on a dusty, hot tent city in Northern Nicaragua. I enjoyed most of the deployment, but no matter what your job is or where you’re working everyone has those days that send you off the deep end. I had a lot of days like that in Nicaragua, and my story today is about one of my, “very fed up with being in the Army” moments.
Asked to patrol the base, and guard the blackhawk helicopters, but refused a weapon to stand guard with I report for duty with a home made weapon.
Lately the only time I get water at my house is late at night when the rest of the city is asleep. It’s been very frustrating, and very hot. If I had my own place I’d have a large back up tank that would fill at night to last me through the next day. But I’m renting so I’ll just complain about it. Because most people do have tanks at their houses that sort of screws me even more. Because when the water does turn back on everyone’s tank begins to fill, so water pressure continues to be quite low.
Worst part about it is not being able to flush the toilet. Lately I’ve been filling our washing machine up at night and using that as my storage tank.
It bugs me that I can’t remember this guys real name. I suppose Dingo Boy is a bit more memorable than the average name. In Basic Training everyone gets made at people like Dingo Boy because we are punished for everyone’s mistakes. So sometimes Dingo Boy got yelled at by the other privates. What some people fail to realize is that Basic Training is all about being yelled at and getting punished. If Dingo Boy wasn’t there to be screamed at the Drill SGT’s would find another whipping boy. So as for as many problems as he caused I was always glad to have a guy like Dingo Boy around. He allowed people like me to lay low while he attracted the wrath of the Drill SGT’s.
Today’s true story comes from my days working as an electrician at a gas refinery North Dakota Montana. It was cold and the wind blows about 300 mph. I’ll never understand what people are doing living in such a horrible place. One of the guys I worked went by the nickname “Turflinger” or possibly “Turdflinger” I was never really sure. He would come to work so tired and worn out form drinking and playing video Keno all night. I told him once, “Turf, I’ve never met anybody with so many problems that could be solved by a good nights sleep.”
I have no idea where he ended up, but I hope he’s doing okay, and I hope he’s stopped popping pills given to him by random strangers.
Sorry about the poor camera angle in this one. I guess you’re just Mr. Perfect!!!!
For True Story Sunday today I tell the story of the worst motorcycle accident I’ve ever been in. Thankfully it isn’t all that bad. I was a little banged up, but made it home okay.
While I was at the Baringer Meteor crater I made this goofy video of the place.

I want to start doing a video each Sunday which I will add to the playlist, “True Story Sunday.” Something from my past, maybe about dating, or Army life, even motorcycle adventures. I hope I can keep it up for a while and make it a Sunday tradition. If you have any suggestions for topics I should cover please post a comment below, and I’ll try to get to it.

This story is about a short relationship I had with a girl I met at church. We had fun for a while and I was thinking of inviting her to Thanksgiving dinner with my family, but then something very weird happened. Fellas if your girlfriend has to explain to you that she left her tampon in too long and needs to go to the emergency room because she doesn’t want to wake up dead the next day. It’s a deal breaker.
I decided to start a 2nd youtube channel for some of the random stuff I film that has nothing to do with motorcycles. I want to keep halfthrottle on the subject of motorcycles, and altthrottle open for anything I happen to film and still want to share with the world. There are a few videos there already so go have a look if you want.

Yeah my hair is pretty long… These guys pulled up along side me waving then quickly realized I wasn’t a girl, and drove away in shame. I didn’t realize what was happening until they were gone. If I had my wits about me I would have blown them a kiss. In the machoista culture of Panama that would have embarrassed the hell out of them.
This wasn’t the first I’ve been hit on because of my long hair. I’ve been whistled at while driving down the road too. Each time I’m mistaken for a girl gets me a little closer to having a hair cut.
I was in Boquete for the Tuesday market again saying hello to a few people, and checking out the small theater where I will be making a presentation about my videos in a few weeks. Thought I would make a quick vlog while I was up there riding around.
I also made a quick video about Sugar and Spice bakery and that will be online tomorrow. It’s my favorite place to grab a snack while I’m in town.
Just a quick update video. Wanted to say thanks for all the positive feedback about my recent tutorials, and tell you a little about stuff that will be happening in the future.
