HalfThrottle

Ride safe. Travel far. Do it soon.

Some of you have been asking for longer videos, well you have received. I always have a lot of fun at places like this, but mostly because I like to goof off as much as I can. Luckily my tour guide didn’t seem to mind my smart ass comments.

She showed me many different artifacts that had been found on the property. Jars and small stone tables, and even though I like to joke around I did learn a lot. The thing that amazed me the most is they have determined the people who settled and lived in this area so long ago were of Asian and African decent. Most places like this are from the indigenous population of Panama. Which made me wonder just how those 2 groups ended up in Panama living together.

I have a really hard time wondering around museums they are just so boring, but going to a place like this where I can actually experience the things that happened really makes me want to learn.

Went on a nice ride from David to Volcan today with a lot of bikers. Easily the largest group ride I’ve ever been in. Can’t really relax when you’re in a large pack of bikes like this, but it is a lot of fun checking out all the different bikes and rolling somewhere together. I saw a lot of people out in front of their houses waving and cheering us on. Everybody knows motorcycles are cool. Little kids wave, even dogs know bikes are cool that is why they are always chasing them.

It great to ride with so many people on so many different types of motorcycle. Seeing all the BMW’s made me miss my GS back in the U.S. but the KLR is a great bike for the types of adventures I’ve been going on here in Panama.

Bit of a slow paced video from a really nice road that connects Porterillos to Volcan. It is so rare to find a road like this in Panama that isn’t riddled with pot holes. The smooth road, the waterfalls, and cool temperatures made this a really nice ride. I did get rained on a little bit on the way home, but not enough to ruin my day. Wish I has spent more time filming the waterfalls, seemed like a very cool place. I’d like to go back someday and hike down to the pool at the bottom for a little swim.
